The Murphy Historical Society's inaugural meeting was held on September 28, 2011, and officially became an historic organization on October 11, 2011.
The Society encourages the residents of Murphy to preserve history of our community for future generations. We educate the public about our history through the collection and preservation of old photographs, oral history interviews, primary source documents, and exhibits of historical memorabilia. We support the preservation of historic properties in Murphy, including maintenance of our local cemeteries, and apply for historical markers around our community.
The Murphy Historical Society is a non-profit organization and has 501(c)(3) status as an exempt organization of the Internal Revenue Code.
