The historical society has a collection of archives donated by citizens. The archives are used for display and are cataloged for reference. We want to grow our archives and citizens are encouraged to donate historical ites to our collection. Contact us to donate.

Are you looking for an historic church, school, cemetery, house, or event in Murphy?  Data for historic sites is collected by the Society's volunteers and made available on the County's website under the Collin County Historical Commission's section.

CEMETERY PRESERVATION

Our cemeteries are an important resource for future generations.  Murphy Historical Society maintains  the Decatur-Maxwell-Murphy Family Cemetery on North Maxwell Creek and the Herring-Hogge Cemetery on South Murphy Road. 

PORTAL TO TEXAS HISTORY

The Portal is the gateway to many Texas history materials including Murphy.  The Society received two grants to preserve old historic photographs of Murphy.  The University of North Texas scanned photographs and postcards as well as digitized primary source documents as well as old newspapers.

The Society interviews local citizens who have information on the history of Murphy.  Watch this website for future postings.  Contact us if you know someone who has historical information we should interview.
